PSHE
PSHE education is Personal, Social, Health and Economic education. We follow an adapted curriculum scheme from PSHE Association which progresses learning from foundations at EYFS then throughout the primary school years builds each year in a spiral format. Our PSHE programme incorporates RSHE (Relationship, Sex and Health Education) and fully embraces and supports our school vision of ‘we believe, we nurture, we succeed’.
The core aim of PSHE is to nurture our pupils’ character, wellbeing, compassion towards others and understanding of the world in which they live. Through developing physical and psychosocial wellbeing, pupils believe in themselves and are able to succeed academically, socially and contribute positively to society.
PSHE is taught by class teachers and the PSHE subject leaders. Our pupil's learning experiences are enhanced by a wide variety of one-off workshops, visiting specialist teachers, and drop-down events (such as Inclusivity Week and Keeping Safe Week).
Desired learning outcomes within PSHE are very much linked with other aspects of school life, within specific subjects, pupil voice initiatives, experiences at playtimes, collective worship, extra-curricular activities and charity work to name but a few. Through this approach, children how see the qualities, skills and attitudes discussed in lessons link with everyday life so that they can celebrate, nurture, respect, support, encourage and understand one another and those beyond their immediate family and friend network.
See the accompanying files for more information about topics covered within the PSHE curriculum (EYFS details to be uploaded soon).
