Welcome to Class 3!

Welcome to an exciting year of learning in Year 3! This year, children will discover new subjects, develop their independence and confidence, and be encouraged to ask questions, solve problems and explore the world around them. 

Staff: Mrs Watkins will be teaching the class Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Nicoll will be teaching Wednesday to Friday. Mrs Scott supports our class three mornings a week, working with both Class 3 and Class 4. 

Uniform: Please make sure that all uniform, book bags and water bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name, especially cardigans and jumpers, as these are the most common items to go missing.

PE: Our PE sessions will be taking place on Tuesdays (indoor) and Fridays (outdoor). Children should come to school in their PE kit, consisting of; blue PE t-shirt, shorts or joggers, Barkisland hoodie and suitable footwear. It would also be helpful if earrings are not worn on PE days, especially if your child finds them tricky to remove.

Reading Books: Reading books will be sent home on a Friday, to be returned by the following Friday. Some children will bring home Monster Phonics and Flying Ahead books to continue practise their phonics and fluency. Some children will bring home a book from the class library - these children are 'free readers'. All children can also choose their own library book to bring home to enjoy with you.

Homework: Talking Homework is set every Wednesday on Class Dojo.
