Hi there, I joined Barkisland Primary in January 2014 and I feel such a valued member of our fantastic team! Barkisland is such a warm, friendly and happy place to work with fantastic pupils who just love to learn.
I am the school's Inclusion Manager and teach in Year 5. As part of my Inclusion Manager role I'm responsible for all additional needs across school (both SEND and G&T) I'm also a published writer! I've written a review of a Dyslexia friendly working memory game for the NASEN (National Association for SEN) magazine, it will be published in May 2015.
I am also an SLE (Specilaist Leader in Education) for Teamworks TSA (http://www.teamworkstsa.net/) My specialism is Inclusion. As part of this role I support Calderdale School's staff CPD and direct in-school support as required. I'm currently preparing to lead a conference (March 2015) with another SLE Colleague for Calderdale SENCO's about the new SEND Reforms in the SEN Code of Practice. I'm very passionate about Inclusion and love sharing my knowledge with others!
Before coming to Barkisland I worked at a school in Kirklees where I spent time in many different year groups including; Year 5/6 mixed, Year 6 and Year 4. I was also the middle manager for ICT at the school for over 3 years.
I really enjoy teaching Maths and Topic, History is one of my favourite subjects. Outside of school my favourite hobbies are walking my sausage dogs Archie & George, camping and baking."
