  • Contrasting locations - Contrasting art

In Geography, Year 2 have been comparing Barkisland with a small town in Namibia called Outjo. We have used this theme for our art work by looking at some local artists who have used watercolours to capture our beautiful area and then we looked at a very different art form that is found on some rocks not too far from Outjo and was created thousands of years ago by San bushmen. We have tried to reproduce the local art by using watercolours to paint pictures of Barkisland and we have used a technique called Mono-printing to recreate the Namibian rock art. We were very lucky because Mrs Butler scanned our prints and sent them to a travel agency in Namibia, called ATI Holidays. They then sent us prizes for their three favourite prints. We hope that you like our art work too!
